Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling to clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques. 
  • Assess client needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and track progress throughout the recovery process. 
  • Implement client-centered and family-centered approaches, with an emphasis on goal-setting and intervention strategies. 
  • Facilitate assessments and work collaboratively with clients to create actionable treatment goals. 
  • Build and maintain supportive, empathetic relationships with clients, offering consistent encouragement and motivation. 
  • Coordinate care with family members, referral sources, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive, holistic treatment. 
  • Participate in case management tasks, including treatment planning, referrals, and discharge planning. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, and CARF standards. 
  • Engage in regular supervision, team meetings, and training to stay current on best practices in addiction counseling. 
  • Contribute to ongoing treatment team discussions and help evaluate program effectiveness. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Previous experience working with individuals impacted by substance use or co-occurring disorders is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for documentation and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and treatment teams.
  • A passion for supporting others through recovery, with a commitment to promoting long-term behavioral health improvements.
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay updated on addiction treatment methods and trends. 

Licenses and Other Required Credentials:   

  • CSC-AD, or CAC-AD in Maryland

The hourly pay for this position typically ranges from $25 to $40 per hour, depending on factors such as location, experience, and licensure.
